Academics

The academic program at Puerto Rico Christian School places an emphasis on every aspect of student growth and development, while meeting state requirements. Suitable class sizes and exceptional, qualified teachers allow us to offer a comfortable and inclusive educational environment, while ensuring each student receives the individualized attention and support they need.

Our Counseling Department, comprising a Campus Pastor, licensed social worker, dean of students, and guidance counselor, further enriches the support system for our students. This department extends its services beyond academic guidance, ensuring a holistic approach to student well-being.

Former students and graduates have been accepted in universities and schools such as Harvard, Princeton, Yale, West Point, U.S. Naval Academy, Pace University, Kings College (London), University of Southern California, University of Chicago, Texas A&M International University, University of Maryland, University of Puerto Rico, Inter-American University, Sagrado Corazón and more.

Pre-school

The goal in all academic areas is to provide a quality education in English with a Christian emphasis. Our focus on excellence extends to the pre-school level, where we are dedicated to setting students on a trajectory for success.

Our pre-school level is composed of pre-kinder and kindergarten. Due to our English emphasis, students are introduced to the English language since pre-kinder, laying a foundation for effective communication. The curriculum in pre-kinder centers around three key subject areas: basic motor skills, English language readiness, and number readiness. Additionally, students engage in daily Bible classes, fostering spiritual growth, and weekly sessions in physical education, art, and music, enhancing their overall development.

We strongly recommend that students commence their educational journey at PRCS with pre-kinder. This early start is designed to provide a solid foundation, ensuring that students are well-prepared for the challenges that kindergarten may present. By starting in pre-kinder, students benefit from a comprehensive and supportive environment that sets the stage for a successful academic journey. Should you have any specific questions or require further information, please feel free to reach out to our administrative team.

Elementary School

Our PRCS elementary level includes 1st–6th grade, where we are dedicated to providing an holistic English education that nurtures the spiritual, academic, social, and physical development of every student. Our commitment is to offer educational experiences that not only meet academic standards but also enrich the lives of our students.

In lower elementary (1st–3rd grade), students participate in an integrated language arts curriculum during 100-minute class periods approximately. This comprehensive approach includes essential skills such as reading comprehension, phonics, spelling, and grammar. The focus is on cultivating a love for reading and storytelling, with a primary emphasis on developing robust reading comprehension skills that transcend into all subjects. Alongside language arts, students participate in daily sessions covering science, math, social studies, Spanish, and Bible studies.

As students progress to upper elementary (4th–6th grade), they delve into two distinct periods of language arts: an English and a reading period. Creative writing becomes an integral part of these classes, providing students with opportunities to apply their knowledge and unleash their creativity. The curriculum extends to science, social studies, Spanish, math, and Bible studies, ensuring a well-rounded academic experience.

Physical education, art, and music classes are an essential part of the weekly schedule for all elementary students. These courses contribute to the overall development of our students, fostering creativity, physical well-being, and a love for the arts.

At PRCS, we are dedicated to nurturing well-rounded individuals who are not only academically proficient but also spiritually, socially, and physically enriched. If you have any specific inquiries or would like more detailed information, please feel free to reach out to our administrative team.

Junior High & High School

Our PRCS junior high and high school levels include grades 7th-12th. Our junior high level curriculum equips students with the foundational skills necessary for success in a demanding high school setting. At the high school level, our curriculum is aligned with U.S. college preparatory courses, providing students with a robust academic foundation suitable for those aspiring to pursue higher education in Puerto Rico or the United States.

In our academic structure, class periods typically adopt a block form for each subject, offering a unique learning experience where most students remain in their classrooms, and teachers rotate to them. Additionally, we provide weekly sessions for physical education, computer classes, and a range of elective courses across multiple grades.

As part of our commitment to convenience and accessibility, we are proud to be an authorized SAT testing center, facilitating the College Board testing process on-site. Our Counseling Department, comprising a Campus Pastor, licensed social worker, dean of students, and guidance counselor, further enriches the support system for our students. This department extends its services beyond academic guidance, ensuring a holistic approach to student well-being.
